The TUM Catalysis Research Center

The Catalysis Research Center (CRC) is the flagship institution for catalysis research at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and one of its strategic research focus areas. It unites internationally recognized scientists and their teams to address challenges across the entire spectrum of catalysis, from fundamental molecular principles to technological applications. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the CRC drives scientific excellence, accelerates technology transfer, supports outstanding early-career researchers, and advances catalysis-focused education at TUM.

Recognizing the pivotal role of catalysis in shaping the future of science, engineering, and industry, TUM established the CRC in 2008 as a Corporate Research Center. Today, it brings together around 300 scientists in a vibrant research community. Since 2015, the CRC has been housed in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art research facility at the TUM Research Campus Garching, providing an outstanding environment for innovation and enabling collaborations that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries.
